Under The Spotlight: Anne-Marie
Yes, that's right, it's the modern UK pop queen herself, Anne-Marie, and in preparation for her 2023 festival forays, we wanted to shine our spotlight on her; particularly her headline slot at Highest Point
Date published: 21st Mar 2023
Anne-Marie is the ultimate pop party starter, the kind of artist who makes you want to jump up and dance like nobody's watching (even if you're in the middle of a crowded room). With her energetic performances and infectious tunes, Anne-Marie has become one of the hottest acts on the scene, and of her string of festival-based frivolities this year, we think her headline spot at Highest Point in Lancaster is THE place to be catching her in 2023
From her early days as a kid reforming on the West End to her youth as a karate champion (yeah that's right, don't mess with our Anne) to her time as a backing vocalist for the likes of Rudimental and Gorgon City, Anne-Marie’s talent has prevailed through all and she now has an extensive catalogue of worldwide hits, that will be ready and primed to shoot out the purest of vibes to whatever stage she graces.
Take, for instance, her smash hit "2002", a perfect blend of nostalgia and contemporary cool, that despite being released nearly five years ago, is still impossible not to sing along to. But Anne-Marie is anything but a one-hit wonder. Her track "Friends" with Marshmellow is just as huge, catchy, and boppable, showcasing her ability to blend different genres and styles to create something truly unique. With its Latin-inspired electro-pop beats and sassy girl-boss lyrics, it’s the kind of song we’ve all been caught defiantly strutting along to (to some people who have crafted a ‘cool’ personas displeasure.)
Of course, Anne-Marie's talent isn't limited to just her music. She's also a seasoned performer, with a natural charisma that draws audiences in from the first note, her stage presence is both enchanting and empowering and elevates the bangers-only setlist to even bigger heights. Whether she's belting out a power ballad or getting the crowd jumping with a dance hit, Anne-Marie knows how to put on a show.
So we, as you should be, are teeming in anticipation at the thought of Anne-Marie making the headline slot of any festival her own. But, with the gorgeous Williamson Park on its side, and a stacked undercard on the day, we can't look past her headline slot at the Highest Point Festival in 2023. With her infectious energy and killer tunes, you’re guaranteed to leave in a goosebump-stricken, pop-fuelled, state of pure bliss.
