Manchester’s Ruby Lounge re-opens its doors later this month after a big old facelift, and they’ll be showing off their new look with some super events in the next few months.

Here’s our pick of just a handful of them. Find all Ruby Lounge events here.

Smoke Fairies, 26th January

UK lady-duo Smoke Fairies kick off The Ruby Lounge’s 2011 live programme with their captivating brand of acoustic folksy blues. We caught up with Katherine from the band recently – read the interview here. Listen to Smoke Fairies’ ‘Hotel Room’ below.

The Bravery, 13th February

Cool New York rockers The Bravery rose to fame in 2005 (yes, it was that long ago) with the absolutely awesome ‘Honest Mistake’; the first single from their self-titled debut album. Despite working prolifically since then, the band’s past two albums haven’t been released in the UK due to a legal battle with the label. Mysterious, eh. Find out what they’ve been up to for the past few years on February 13th.

Brother, 18th February

If Britpop is going to make a comeback in 2011, then Brother, with their huge indie anthems and Oasis-esque appearance, will be the band at the forefront of the revolution. The lads have been ruffling a few feathers of late with their rock n roll attitudes, but are the egos justified? Grab a beer, practice your swagger, and find out. Listen to 'Darling Buds of May' below.

The Boxer Rebellion, 6th March

With a third album due for release next month, The Boxer Rebellion have been packing punches (sorry) since the release of their debut Exits in2005. They play the Ruby Lounge on March 8th, so plenty of time to digest the new offering before then and impress your friends with your singalong skills.

Crystal Stilts, 26th March

Described by one reviewer as ‘moody sounding fuckers’, Crystal Stilts are a brooding noise pop outfit  from New York. After causing a bit of a shuffle with their debut album in 2008 the guys are back with second LP In Love with Oblivion; so expect to hear plenty of new material. JB from the band told Skiddle recently that the new album is ‘a little more interesting. It's not a huge leap in sound from earlier stuff, but I'd like to think it was more mature. Our earlier songs were more meditative and stoned. I think the newer stuff is a bit more sober at times.’ Read the full Crystal Stilts interview here and watch the video to ‘Departure’ below.
