Perfectly located in Leicester's West End, 2Funky Music Cafe is a city hot spot for taking in a plethora of touring artists. Its multi-purpose space is intimate in stature, boasting a balcony vantage point and beer garden at the rear. Looking ahead, we can only hope the outside terrace can be put to use, although the musical menu suggests you'll be better served peering at the stage.
It's appeal to international artists is for all to see when nineties rap duo Pete Rock and C.L Smooth celebrate 25 years of their seminal debut album All Souled Out on Thursday 1st September.
Alto-Jazz Saxophonist Soweto Kinch and his band accelerate the eclecticism when he launches his latest record Nonagram on Thursday 29th September. Previously nominated for a Mercury Prize, Soweto is a Tour De Force on the jazz and hip hop circuit.
Political rapper Akala upholds the landmark trend, when he holds down the mic to mark a decade since It's Not A Rumour. His longest tour to date will be punctuated by a new record, performed here on Wednesday 26th October.
Scoping the golden years of Lovers Rock, legendary figures Janet Kay, Carroll Thompson and Victor Romero curate a theatrical experience on Friday 28th October.
The Lovers Rock monologues document the romantic reggae style that was at large during the late 70s through to the 80s and countered the popular Rasta sound popularised in the sixties.
