Chatham might only be a relatively small place compared to the Londons, Birminghams and Manchesters of this country, but the underground scene in the north Kent town continues to be as passionately embraced as anywhere in the UK.
At the epicentre of Chatham's increasingly impressive scene is Club Mojo, a club dedicated to purveying a distinctly fresh house, techno and bass culture in the Medway town. We have a look at their upcoming roster for June.
As one of the most intriguing and downright original stars of underground dance music, Bulgarian dance music maverick KiNK has risen to prominence through his prolific back catalogue, making regular appearances of labels like Ovum, Rush Hour and Dirtybird, all showcasing an exciting cross pollination of ideas and influences.
His live shows in particular have reached notoriety through his undeniable mastery of hardware, manipulating and creating live sets taking in everything from acid to techno, broken beat to experimental, whilst aiming it squarely at the dance floor. Witness that in his Cocoon set above. Grab your Void presents KiNK tickets here.
Cranking up the BPM count, Club Mojo welcomes a host of trap, drum n bass, garage and grime dons through its doors on the 7th, with grime and bass specialists Newham Generals taking centre stage. Known individually as D Double E and Footsie, the grime veterans have consistently forged new styles and concepts throughout a career spanning three decades.
Now longstanding features of Dizzee Rascal's Dirty Stank records, D Double E and Footsie continue to be a force to reckoned with in the grime sphere. Circus records DJ competition winner Shiftz joins them, with Pronto going back to back with Bad Apple, and plenty more to boot. Grab your Shut Your Trap tickets here.
Void return with Detroit techno and Italo disco vanguard Danny Daze in the driving seat. Equally as inspired by the dark gritty electro of Anthony Rother as he is the masterful Italo sound of Giorgio Moroder, whilst taking in elements of his Cuban heritage, Danny Daze and his immense sound continues to be one of the most singular in the field.
Check out his mix on Daniel Avery's Rinse FM show to get fired up for his unique, genre hopping sound. Grab your tickets here.
Birmingham based drum n bass veteran DJ Hazard arrives in Chatham on the 21st. Those that know their d n b will be in for a treat form the True Playaz and Ganja Records mainstay, who since 1999 has been one of the most searing talents in the scene.
His ever evolving mastery of cutting edge high tempo beats and bass has made him a regular at clubs like Fabric, whilst his prolific turn of releases continue to find themselves in the record bags of drum n bass' most celebrated pioneers. Check out his and Eskman's barnstorming set at Innovation above. Grab your tickets here.
RMRS returns to Kent's most intimate underground clubbing destination on the 28th with the first lady of bass music in the driving seat - Hannah Wants.
Now signed to Shadow Child's Food music imprint, as well as enjoying affiliations with Justin Martin and Claude VonStroke's Dirtybird and Radio 1Xtra, Hannah and her energetic, bass fueled masterclass DJ sets continue to reaffirm her status as on the scene's most exciting DJs. Fellow Dirtybirders Cause and Effect join her along with a host of others (find out more here) for an almighty assault of bass music loveliness. Bag your RMRS with Hannah Wants tickets here.
