Billed as West Lothian’s go to venue for the finest in all things rock - Dreadnought Rock has in different guises been at the epicentre of Bathgate’s rock scene for nigh on 40 years, and since 2006’s move to new digs, has very much continued in its stride, enticing some of the best bands and artists from the past and present to its King Street home.
With live music every weekend on one of the two levels, and a much loved Rock Disco makes it the place to come if you love your Live or Rock music. The atmosphere is reliably friendly, relaxed, and above all safe, making Dreadnought a peerless night out.
Quality acts in soft rock, classic rock, pop rock, and just about everything in between are regular features at Dreadnought, and we’ve taken a look at some of the upcoming gigs at Scotlands premier rock venue.
Here are just some of the highlights hitting West Lothian’s premier rock night:
Since 1980, the The Anti Nowhere League have stood out from the crowd for their rawkus hardcore punk excursions, repulsing and exciting the public in equal measure. With their M.O. to be the loudest, most violent violent, obnoxious bunch of yobs in rock music, they have in their 33 year history continued to offend, appall and delight loyal followers. With five studio albums under their belt and a slew of underground singles, their hard fought status as ‘disgraces to music’ has seen them delve deeper and more expressively than most bands, and their live shows tenacity is still one of the most energetic shows in rock. For genuine fans of hardcore punk and punk rock, this is pretty much essential.
Anti-Nowhere League - Degeneration
Dreadnought like to keep their ear to the ground, searching out the best in up and coming talent. Fri 23rd August sees the results of their tireless search culminating in the arrival of the highly regarded Lewis Hamilton. Without a doubt one of Scotland’s finest up and coming bands, the trio lead by young Lewis Hamilton have been nominated for Young Blues Artist of The Year and Album of the Year by the British Blues awards. With a chocker gig schedule and increasing acclaim by the day, the talents of Lewis Hamilton and co are one of the highlights of Scottish alternative scene at the moment and not to be missed.
Dan Reed - Closer
Portland, Oregon based Dan Reed will headline the event. With a brand new album released, and memories still fresh of last year’s sell out gig at Dreadnought, Dan Reed’s arrival in Bathgate is eagerly anticipated as he is set to play some of his much loved Dan Reed Network material as well as some of his critically lauded new material. An immensely likeable guy with a brimming passion for his craft, the American crowd favourite will be showcasing his own take on funk rock, funk metal and pop rock, belting out his uniquely honed sound in his own inimitable way. You’ll need to get your tickets fast for this one.
Other highlights will include the impressive Money for Nothing and Atomic Blondie on 31st August, Ben Poole & the return of Lewis Hamilton on 27th September, the very best Rush tribute act Moving Pictures on 19th October, and Dixie Fried, Black Balloons, and Ewan Butler will be showcasing the best in local talent on 24th August.
