As arguably the epicentre of creative pursuits in Sheffield, the glorious Hope Works venue has played a major part in promoting, nurturing, developing and connecting talent in the city. One major part of that is their major promotion of music, both through creative workshops, recording and sound engineering facilitates, and every now and then, some cracking club events too.
Their autumn program, in typical fashion, is wall-to-wall with quality, laced with huge appearances from some of underground dance music's most vital players. We look at what the coming months hold below.
We've looked previously at the huge Hot Cakes Tour landing this Autumn, on October 3rd it lands at Hope Works, with a beastly line up of booty shaking bass pioneers at the helm. Watch out for killer performances from Deekline, Ed Solo, JFB, Jurassik and Slamboree Soundsystem, as the Hot Cakes crew rip through house, breaks, ghetto funk and more with breathtaking skill. Bag your tickets here.
Making his second appearance for Hope Works after tearing it up back in the middle of last year is Apron boss Funkineven, who will be wielding his rough and ready, soul drenched, off kilter beats that have earned him a legion of fans.
His mastery of low slung, left of field house and techno has earmarked him as one of the UK's most exciting young producers, with his collaborations with Kyle Hall as Funkinevil too yielding hallowed results. Check out his Apron records mix above to see why he's held in such high regard. Label mate and L.I.E.S. mainstay Greg Beato joins him, alongside Bradley Zero and Sheffield dons Lo Shea and Chris Duckenfield. Bag your tickets here.
Gold Teeth takeover the Sheffield venues for the first time ever on Halloween and fittingly, they've gathered a supernaturally good line up to make their inaugural Hope Works show a real belter.
Jackmaster steps into the limelight for Gold Teeth's Spooktacular. Those who have caught the mighty Scot in action will know what to expect - a rip-roaring, action packed journey through all avenues of dance music, something that has made his brand Numbers so iconic. Feast your eyes on his skills above. Tickets are available here.
Hope Works turns the ripe old age of two and to celebrate, they've hooked in the skills of one of techno's most revered dons - Jeff Mills. The master of hard, stripped techno is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in American techno, and with good reason. He's been pranging out killer records since 1992 that have been major hits in both the US and Europe, whilst his high energy, technically ingenious sets continue to be one of the most formidable experiences a techno fan can undergo.
Check out his triple deck wielding mastery above. The Axis boss will be joined by the ever on point Lo Shea, Chris Duckenfield, and plenty more for what is shaping up to be a very impressive birthday party indeed. Grab your tickets here.
