Stockholm-based sextet Viagra Boys have been progressively building a reputation within the punk scene since early 2015.
Notorious for their energetic and often bizarre live shows, the bands raucous, self-branded, PTSD disco-punk sound is bonded together by the unmistakable voice of frontman Sebastian Murphy, as he, more often than not, accommodates every available space within the limitations of any given venue.
Exhibiting a clear dissatisfaction for modern society in a manner similar to that of Iggy Pop, Murphy's lyrical content is focused on satirically tackling topics such as inequality, toxic masculinity, crudely observed in the male bravado mocking video for 'Sports', taken from 2018's popular release Flat Worms, and the self-loathing commonly associated with drug abuse.
The band have unsurprisingly gained a mass following since launching their live campaign, accompanied by widespread critical acclaim, receiving two Swedish Grammy Award nominations and winning Impala's European Album of the Year award back in 2019 - previously won by the likes of The XX, Caribou, Jose Gonzalez and fellow Scandinavian Agnes Obel.
They've also rattled audiences at some of the world's most recognisable live events, from the likes of London's All Points East, alongside The Strokes, Madrid's Mad Cool Festival and Bilbao BBK Live in Northern Spain.
Currently on a comprehensive tour of mainland Europe, the band will land on British Shores for a short run of dates throughout June before returning in November for a second, more extensive visit.
