A legend of a club in its own right, Ministry of Sound is one of the most famous clubs on the planet… and rightly so. Born in 91, the 1,400 capacity venue has a soundsystem like no other and has had every DJ worth their Technic 1210s (or should that be Pioneers now?) grace it’s decks… From Morillo to Emerson to Fatboy Slim, in it’s 13-year history MoS had has ‘em all…And the club is constantly evolving, re-designing and always bringing in new talent (the new ‘Saturday Sessions’ residents announced for 2004 being three of the UK’s hottest rising talents – Tom Neville, Marc Hughes and Mark Knight), whilst also bringing you stellar line-up such as this.
For the Birthday party the club brings Derrick Carter into play for his first gig at MoS in over four years and for what will be his last UK party this year. Born and raised in the western suburbs of the Windy City, Derrick L. Carter was enveloped by House music from its nascent beginnings. Carter nurtured his love for House music working at legendary dance music specialty stores like Gramaphone, and slots at warehouse parties across Chicago. Carter then progressed to regular DJ stints at seminal clubs like Shelter, Foxy's and the Smart Bar. His early sets, whilst rooted in House, seamlessly incorporated old-school disco, soul and jazz, and he soon developed a trademark sound that rewrote the rulebook and would influence a new breed of Chicago DJs… Derrick Carter's hobbies include collecting shoes and watches...
Also in play will be some of Carter’s best label mates and friends, including Miss Honey Dijon, Amir Javasoul, Kenny Hawkes, David Duriez, Saturday Sessions resident Marc Hughes and more… Prepare to jack.
