2010 sees the UKs longest dance brand enter its historical third decade, we have now been loving and playing classic house music for over 20 years.
Last year ended for us very much in an upbeat fashion with huge turnouts at The Warehouse Project, NYE at The Syndicate and our free party at Tall Trees despite the sub zero temperatures. I was gobsmacked by how many of you made the huge effort to get to the venues under difficult circumstances.
Now we can look forward to 2010 with great anticipation, exciting times are ahead indeed with plans for a new website, an official new 3CD compilation album, online weekly Retro radio show, Retro TV, a Retro label all in the big pipeline.
Lets get down to our gigs for 2010. Our monthly residency at The tube in Halifax is moving to the third Saturday of the month as from the 16th January so join Ben Taylor, Ricky Isted and Jamie Askew to kickstart 2010.
On the same night we also present with pride a Retro charity event at Medicine in Middlesbrough. We received a touching letter from girlfriend Naomi Wise who told us of the heart-wrenching story of her boyfriend James Rose, a long term Retro & Lovefunky fan who had been serving with our heros in Afghanistan and suffered a near death experience when unfortunately he lost both of his legs. Im glad to say he is on the road to recovery and inspired us to do something to help our service men and women. All the proceeds from this event are being donated to this cause. So please help and contribute, join Matt Peverell and myself on the 16th at the beautiful Medicine in the heart of the Boro.
Business as usual at Havana Wakefield & Fusion Burnley at the end of the month- both will be packed houses.
We have made the decision to move Retro in Leeds to the first Saturday of the month to a large two-room venue Mezz. We are excited about this move and the venue is perfect for hosting both Retro and Lovefunky, check the listings for all the details, there will be a VIP tickets available too.
Right lets get this New Year started in a proper manner by rocking the dancefloors.
Hey by the way, I am in Dubai as I write this preparing for a beach Retro Event at the amazing Atlantis Palm complex. Paul Taylor will be rocking Nasimi Beach on Thursday anybody coming???
We all hate all the cold, icy weather but lets not let it spoil our love for dancing!!!
Tickets are no longer available for this event
