Huddersfield will rock as never before on the 15th June 2013 when “Welcomefest”, the town’s best independent music festival, opens its doors for the second time.

The festival will bring together an amazing selection of local and regional talent with musicians playing Rock, Funk, Soul, Blues, Reggae and Country music.

The line-up of 8 bands and 1 solo artist includes Roger Davies, the famous Brighouse folk singer who was commissioned by the BBC to write a song to celebrate the West Yorkshire Leg of the 2012 London Olympic Torch Relay. His song, “Carry that Fire”, has won wide acclaim.

Other famous performers include Kava Kava, the local band with a worldwide reputation. Full details of the line-up are available from the festival website www.welcomefest.co.uk.

The entry fee is only £15 per person (students pay only £12!) and this will buy you 11 hours of quality entertainment. Children 16 and under will be admitted free if
accompanied by their own parents. Tickets must be bought in advance.

The festival is a non-profit venture and the proceeds will be divided between the Welcome Centre (a local charity which helps people in crisis) and the Rugby Club.

Last year’s event was held in a large back garden in Birkby and was a huge success. This year the organisers have moved it to the bigger venue of Lockwood Park Rugby Club to make the most of the growing popularity of the event.

Unlike many outdoor festivals, Welcomefest will provide shelter to ensure that the Festival will proceed smoothly even if the weather is inclement. So even if the 15th June is a wet one, the festival won’t be rained off!
