White Hills

With just the right blend of psychedelia and hypnotic grooves, White Hills weaves in and out of anthemic chants, deep space bleeps and other worldly madness for a mix that proves to be intoxicating. Since the release of the bands debut album, listeners have been praising their originality and unique brand of heavy space rock. A band that has grown in popularity with each limited release culminating in the 2010 self titled album that Drowned in Sound have given a whopping 8/10.

New Yorkers White Hills released two highly acclaimed albums in 2007, Glitter Glamour Atrocity (self released on White Hills Music) and Heads on Fire (released by the UK label Rocket Recordings) now available on vinyl format.

For fans of Spaceman 3, Loop, Hawkwind, Mothers of Invention and even Wooden Shjips. Their latest album recorded at Oneidas Washington studio - is awash with juggernaut cosmic riffs, with elongated passages of effects-laden guitar and spaced out keyboards.

Pontiak

Thrill Jockey label mates Pontiak are touring with White Hills and pretty much make this a double header because the band are capable of headlining a tour of their own. This band of brothers are no strangers to fans of Wotgodforgot as they appeared with Earthless last year.
Our friends at Wired Magazine said of them that "It's beyond refreshing to hear guitars unfurl and growl the way do in Pontiak's perfect soundscaping. The digital age has birthed too many wankers, but this Virginia-based riff pusher is having none of it, even though the band usually records mostly live and in one or two takes. Led by Van, Jennings and Lain Carney, three brothers from the Blue Ridge Mountains, Pontiak delivers powerful anthems that worm their way into your lobes and lay beautiful, noisy eggs."
Pontiak have just released a limited edition on vinyl only album titled Sea Void and its a highly recommended must buy.

See them where you can but the Manchester date looks like being the cream of the crop as support comes from the very excellent Mugstar UK masters of experimental pyschedelic rock.
