It was always going to be interesting to hear how Alexandra Savior would follow up her deeply evocative 2017 debut, Belladonna of Sadness.
With Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner heavily involved in the first record, alongside Arctic Monkeys and Last Shadow Puppets producer James Ford, there was lyrical wordplay, seductive charm and nostalgia aplenty (all textbook Turner traits).
So when her sophomore album, The Archer, landed earlier this month, we couldn't wait to get it on the office Sonos - and it doesn't disappoint.
Dreamy, brooding and in parts brilliant, the album explores themes of heartbreak, psychological trauma and strength, demonstrating an increased confidence and emotional sharpness.
At times, Savior sounds as though she's just dropped from a Tarantino soundtrack (comparisons with Lana Del Rey are inevitable) and would likely do a Bond theme tune some serious justice.
A perfect example of this comes during new track 'But You', with blaring horns and wicked charm, you can easily imagine Daniel Craig strutting around some chintzy bar in a tux to Savior's soft siren call.
In tribute to one of the finest female vocalists of a generation, we've compiled a punchy playlist of some of Alexandra Savior's finest work below.
