It may be smaller, it may be quirkier, but for music fans who missed out on a brief for Glastonbury or T in the Park, Scotland’s Wickerman Festival offers a real alternative.
Wickerman organisers report there are still tickets available for the July 20-21 event which is headlined by Fun Lovin’ Criminals.
Another main stage headliner is due to be announced soon but already more than 100 acts have been booked for the Wickerman’s nine stages at East Kirkcarswell, Dundrennan on the Solway Coast.
Set in a natural amphitheatre in scenic farmland, the festival site is "supervised" by a giant 30ft high Wicker Man which is sacrificed in flames at midnight Saturday.
Festival landowner Jamie Gilroy said: "Although we have grown a bit in the last two or three years, we are still small enough to lay on an event that has the feel of what festivals were all about. We’ve got some great music, some quirky attractions, a fantastic site and a genuinely friendly atmosphere.
"We know there are disappointed music fans out there who can’t get to the two big ones, but they won’t be disappointed if they give the Wickerman a go."
