Now we all know that the main reason we go to a festival is for the music. But the other stuff's important too. So away from the stages at Wickerman, you'll find a whole host of activities to get involved with in-between the bands and DJs.
Organisers have today announced an 'Olympia' theme for the festival, with Wickerman attendees being encouraged to don their togas over the weekend and join in the wacky races at a specially created mini Olympic village.
Activities include fire walking, grass sledging, segway riding, dance workshops, Laser Quest, beach volleyball and even a ski slope offering 30 minute lessons.
At the more relaxing end of the activity spectrum is storytelling, cinema screenings, festival golf, chill-out yoga and more.
Gates to the campsite open on Thursday 19th July, when festival goers will also get a first glimpse of this year’s towering Wickerman statue – featuring a unique pose for 2012. The 40ft structure will be set alight on Saturday evening, bringing the festival to an unforgettable close.
The Wickerman Festival takes place in Dumfries and Galloway from July 20th -21st, and will feature performances from The Scissor Sisters, Texas, The View, Steve Lawler, The Levellers, Mike Skinner, Newton Faulkner and more.
