This weekend sees Sankeys swing from garage, house and bass music on Friday, to the more sharper and trippier shades of techno on the Saturday; two very different but equally as alluring peeks into the world of the electronic music underground.
Recentes welcome Take The Whole Cake on Friday, with headliner Mosca. One of the leaders of the surge into the musical free world, Mosca is a producer and DJ who quite
simply remains unshackled by any kind of musical restriction. Whether making dub-infused techno or garage and house hybrids like the monster smash ‘Bax’, Mosca’s musical appetite means he’s feted by a disparate wave of DJs including Skream, Ricardo Vilalobos, Annie Mac and Claude VonStroke.
He’ll be joined by UK Garage royalty MJ Cole, the two-step legend still rightfully heralded as one of the masters of the bass music scene. Young bucks Waze & Odyssey also play, along with Rinse specialists Loefah and Hackman with vocal talents handled by MC Chunky.
Saturday night sees Sankeys Carnival welcome Items&Things label owner Marc Houle, touching down to showcase the full capabilities of his synth driven-techno with a special live performance. Joining the Canadian will be the starker and more ethereal soundscapes delivered by Romanian Cosmin TRG, whose debut LP on Modeselektor’s 50 Weapons imprint set the tone for an uncompromising excursion through electronica.
Support for the duo comes in the form of a wide range of stars, with deep don Ripperton, US house classicist Rick Wade and Swiss groove merchant Washerman making his Sankeys debut. Sankeys’ friends and residents complete the bill.
