This weekend sees Coloursound and We Love… team up to deliver a massive indoor festival at Leeds University Union to celebrate the end of term, headlined by the very awesome Groove Armada.
With four different arenas, live performances and a festival vibe, We Love… Coloursound will bring together some of the biggest names in partyland for an extra special blow-out. And we have four tickets to give away to one lucky Skiddle reader and their even luckier mates.
Headlining is quite simply one of the great live dance acts of all time… the incredible Groove Armada present their Red Light. As a Live band they were legendary; The Red Light shows though open a new chapter. A four decks, multi F-X, audiovisual DJ experience rooted in the warehouse, delivered stadium style. Over the past decade, Groove Armada have become established as one of the planet's most-loved and biggest selling dance acts. The duo, Tom Findlay and Andy Cato, have stormed the charts and headlined stages at the world's biggest festivals. Then, in 2010, they redefined the GA sound. Black Light, their 6th studio album, achieved massive critical acclaim, and a year headlining festivals from Australia to Moscow ended in Los Angeles and a Grammy nomination.
Little need be said of next guest Kenny Dope for his place in house history is assured after seminal releases on Defected, BBE and Strictly Rhythm and for being part of legendary house act Masters at Work who pretty much defined the scene in the early days, whilst for something completely different there will be a live show from d&b and breakbeat legend DJ Fresh. His ties to Adam F and various integral labels mean he is one of the most assured producers and performers in the game.
If anyone is deserving of the oft over used title of tastemaker, it’s surely Heidi Van Den Amstel aka Heidi. Having secured a regular show on Radio 1, the Dutch DJ continues to showcase all manner of new and jacking house and tech on the airwaves, just as she does at her Heidi Presents The Jackathon club events and on her recently release Get Physical compilation of the same name. Spinning in Berlin and London as well as Paris, Manchester, Amsterdam and many other cities around the world, she’s the current queen of the underground.
Also on will be Ministry of Sound act J Magik & Wickaman, Ram records’ DC Breaks, Italo disco and house duo Serge Santiago and Tom Neville aka Retro/Grade of Sony and Deconstruction association, breakthrough disco house crew Waifs & Strays of Hot Creations and Furtureboogie and VIVa’s leading tech house propend and local lad Darius Syrossian – also a Coloursound resident as is Cera Alba from Hot Creations who also plays.
What that means is that fans of everything from breaks to d&b to electro via all forms of house and techno will be catered for.
