Housed in a gloriously renovated 1800s building on the corner of Grosvenor Street in Manchester, the Deaf Institute looks and feels like a class act, a super cool venue thats pleasing aesthetic is matched with its run of regular high grade nights. In the run up to, and the week following Chrimbo, Deaf Institute pulls out some crackers to get all the ravers and lovers in the festive spirit.
Starting on December 19th, Deaf welcomes monthly rock and roll, psychelica, ska, soul and sixties soiree Electric Jug starring a top notch selection records for some of the retro feel good business. Get your tickets here
Bare Bones continue to welcome headline DJ slots from some of the coolest bands out there, and on December 20th charismatic Dutch Uncles frontman Duncan Wallis finds himself in charge of selections. Tickets are available here
Making waves in Manchester following a successful career in Preston, fam*'s Manchester campaign has seen the 'disco funk orgy' welcome a whole new raft of fans, lapping up the night's unpretentious disco, soul, funk, and house music policy. The Unabombers, Lewi Scandal (check out his mix below) and fam* overseer Efenar will be supplying the vibe for its second birthday on December 26th.
Deaf Institute's flagship night Pop throws its Christmas party on the 27th, and with that comes an unashamed truck load of classic Christmas hits, guilty pleasures and booty shaking bangers, whilst the venue will be filled with classic Christmas fare in the shape of mulled wine, tinsel, Quality Street, and party poppers. For those that wish Christmas lasted longer than one day, Pop's Christmas Party will be the perfect remedy. Grab your tickets here.
Finally, the biggest party night of the year - New Year's Eve sees a triple whammy of Deaf Institute regulars take a floor each, with Girls on Film on an eighties electro pop tip, Electric Jug doing their sixties, Britpop and rock 'n' roll thing and Higher Ground supplying a swathe of Motown classics and Atlantic Soul.
