With so much going on in the capital city on any given day, the choices can be overwhelming for some. With Arts, Culture, History, Music, and Theatre all at your fingertips, London really is your oyster.
This Weekend Guide will curb some of the stress of organising an intinerary by giving you a few heads-up on the fun, quirky, and cool events you'll want to be involved in in London this weekend.
Most people spend their time trying to get out of the rat race, but this weekend a whole new urban commute is on our doorstep. Californian wine-makers Redwood Creek have brought the rugged outdoors to central London, with an adventure trail like no other. Spanning over the full weekend, teams will face physical and mental endurances in the form of quirky challenges, exhilarating activities, and checkpoint hunting. Taking inspiration from the winemakers' own Californian escapades, partakers will run, bike, abseil, and navigate around London’s most famous streets and monuments. However if you feel an assault course is much more of a spectator sport then fear not. Viewers can sample the Redwood Creek wines with complimentary culinary delights such as Venison and Pheasant, whilst relaxing in bubbling hot-tub. If dancing is more like your kind of workout then head over to clubbing institution Fabric for the launch of Fabriclive 59, a thought-provoking mix by sophisticated electronic artist Fourtet. Four Tet aka Keiran Hebden is joined by fellow heavy-weights Caribou (DJ Set), Trevor Jackson, Pearson Sound, and Ben UFO, to celebrate what truly is a history-lesson in London sounds and music trends from over the decades. Expect an eclectic mix of garage, two-step, 70’s psychedelica and bass-heavy music. Friday 23/09. Tickets £7-£20, 10pm-6am, EC1.
Finally, prepare yourselves for a ‘live’ show that promises to be just as much a visual spectacle as an audio treat. Twisted Society returns to Shoreditch favourite Village Underground headlined by Cadenza success Frivolous, Crosstown Rebels duo Dan Berkson and James What, and FB Julian. Sets will include live-instrumentals, jaw-dropping beats, and a journey through Detroit techno, jazz, funk and house. Saturday 24/09. Tickets £10/£15/£20, EC2A.
