For this release though it seems fitting
to let Yos do the talking, and below he explains how he feels since Circus
first started and what the future will hold for Circus Recordings.
“First of all I’d just like to say thank
you to you all for being involved in our club night for the past 5 years or so,
it’s been quite a ride. Going from a small 400 capacity club night designed for
me to play in my home town of Liverpool to hosting the world famous "Radio
1 Essential Mix Live" in the 1000 + capacity of the Masque (now Barfly)
within 12 months of us opening was amazing. Then winning UK club of the year
within 2 years. Building the best line ups we can afford to offer. Offering the
widest spectrum of music within the frame of electronica, house and techno.
We've had some of the most incredible parties Liverpool or the UK (or anywhere)
has seen, from Coxy’s techno to Luciano’s moods, Fatboy's party to Garnier's
epic journeys, Sasha’s slick soundscapes to Moodymann’s Detroit beats. We've
done everything good.
“Following the success of the Circus events and driven by my own studio output
I have created a new label, “Circus Records which we expect to be as big a
success as our club nights. Based around my sound, my music and Circus' musical
direction and spectrum come the beginnings of our new label. We feel confident
we can take the sound of Circus to our loyal fan base (our club message board
is one of the busiest in Europe for an independent club, 4million hits in
January alone) and way beyond. I’ve teamed up with my new management “CCMM” to handle
the running the label with the mechanics of it all being headed up by Rob
Howarth. Rob has a wealth of experience when it comes to the promotion,
marketing and sales of electronic music having worked at the sharp end of music
retail for many years managing the sales for labels including Renaissance,
Buzzin Fly, Border Community, BPitch Control, Kompakt, 2020 Vision, Freerange,
Poker Flat and Crosstown Rebels.
“Our first release is on April 14th (my birthday, aptly) is a two track EP from
myself - Letter To No One and Purple Rage. The two tracks cover the current climate
at Circus - forward thinking electronica and techno with house flavours and
melodic hooks. You should expect to receive a promo soon via Circus Recordings
FATdrop service.”
