Do Not Disturb is back for the third time this year with their increasingly popular Strictly, New-School R&B night hosted in the heart of Manchester’s Northern Quarter at a cosy bar/lounge called 33 Oldham Street.
Although this is technically Do Not Disturbs fifth event, it is their third ‘New School R&B’ night.
The New-School R&B night is designed with everyone in mind, so long as you are a listener of the modern R&B scene: That means music from SZA, Brent Faiyaz, Summer Walker, Bryson Tiller, PartyNextDoor, Kali Uchis etc.
“Finally found somewhere that plays the music I have on repeat!” - Ellissia, 21
The music that is played, the comfortable seating, the 2 for £10 cocktails and the time of the event is what really makes Do Not Disturb stand out from the crowd. Starting at 7pm and finishing promptly at 11pm allows for a perfect date night, a catch up with long-time friends or after dinner drinks. If you are a club goer, it is not unusual for groups of friends to attend Do Not Disturb for pre-drinks as the 11pm finish provides ample time to hit the clubs. Alternatively, if you are a homebody who does not go out much, the 11pm finish gives you enough time to catch that last bus home.
“very relaxed environment and the cocktail were delicious!” – Sophie, 18
Do No Disturb takes pride in playing music that is only ever played at home, in the bedroom or on your AirPods. Many of the artists that get played, such as PartyNextDoor, do not go on tour much nor is their music played in places with club level speakers and DJ’s mixing it live. As the slogan goes, Do Not Disturb is “Filling the void” by supplying New-School R&B listeners with a place to indulge in their favourite tunes at levels they did not think they would experience.
"good vibes and the DJ's know what they're doing." - Nuccie, 25
In closing, Do Not Disturb is truly "a night out that feels like a night in". If you are looking for a change from the usual Hip-Hop and R&B but still want to enjoy the luxuries of cocktails and DJ's, definitely take some time to check out Do Not Disturb's upcoming event on Friday 24th November.
