One of the clubs seared into the consciousness of Sheffield's collective mind is De:Bug. Lovers of house music and techno will no doubt already be fully accustomed with the night, despite its relatively short life span.
Built out of genuine passion for the music they play, residents Stephen Roberts, Reece Johnson, and Steve Lynam came together to create a night that was all about the music, rewarding lovers of house and techno with a night dedicated to them, and an awesome opportunity for them to see some of their heroes playing live.
Sunday 5th May sees De:Bug’s celebration of its second birthday taking place at Fez Club in Sheffield, and what a party they have in store for us! Anyone who was lucky enough to be at the first birthday might have an idea of just how good this is going to be.
Sheffield will play host to none other than The Martinez Brothers. Hailing from The Bronx, New York, The Martinez Brothers have crafted a genuinely unique path in house music. Combining luscious Latin influences with a salsa swagger, all the while maintaining a firmly New York house feel, The Martinez Brothers have found a huge audience that are perfectly in tune with their laid back approach to the genre. Their headlining set is hugely anticipated!
Alongside the New York lads will be Paris based American house protagonist Dan Ghenacia. His stay in America aroused his love for house music, a passion he later transported to his Parisian home. With the influential label Apollonia well under way, gaining support from right across the spectrum, Dan is a man on the move, constantly pushing the genre in exciting new directions. He will be a joy to catch on May 5th.
If that's not enough, De:Bug have also nabbed the incredibly popular Crazy P for the night. 15 years on and the guys that constitute Crazy P continue to gain new fans and followers amongst DJs, producers, and clubbers lucky enough to catch their unique brand of house, disco, nu disco and funk. Their presence is renowned for its infectious nature, as they manage to combine all their varied influences into one fluid party starting pantheon, that will set the dance floor on fire.
To top the night off we have the irrepressible talents of Matt Neale & Stu Clark. Responsible for launching the likes of Bicep, Medlar, Waze & Odyssey, and Casino times, these guys have carved for themselves a groove in house music that is adored by many. With a full festival schedule, and with a label showcase lined up at Fabric, the guys behind Wolf Music are going from strength to strength, and will bring the party to Sheffield this May.
De:Bug’s birthday preparations are well in place, and their second birthday is shaping up to be one hell of a party. Made by lovers of house music, for lovers of house music, De:Bug continues to be one of the finest nights in its field.
