How was your New Year? was it a heavy one for you?
Yeah, good. I played at Motion in Bristol with Sub focus and it was sold out. I kinda kept away from partying too much on this one as I just got back from a three month tour of USA, Australia and the whole of Asia. New Year’s Day was the party night, I went to catch EZ at Pacha for his 8 hour old skool UKG set!
December also saw you support The Prodigy, how was that for you?
Unreal, I had such a good time playing at them shows. It was such a huge honour to be asked to play just one, let alone all three! The first two nights I had to play after The Prodigy which was most def a hard thing to do, but I managed to keep most of the crowd locked in - which was a good feeling. The last night i played before them, and was one of the highlights of my career.
Did you get to hang with them at all?
Yea I did and they're real good blokes. I have a lot of respect for them.
Tell us about your latest release, 'On it'. How did the collaboration with Mighty High Coup come about?
I originally wrote that tune in 2010 but just had it stuck on my hard drive. I hooked up with Mighty High Coup through emails after them sending a request for a possible remix to my manager. Instead of doing the remix I sent them the track and they loved it, and decided to vocal it in early 2011. When I was on tour last March I was heading back home via Atlanta so thought it would be a great time to shoot a video and just get the track out there. I really wanted to put something out completely different from what I normally do, but still with that Caspa edge.
You will perform at Eat My Beat in Leeds this Saturday. Leeds holds a strong place for you, what's so special about the city?
Yea I have great memories of playing up at Sub Dub in the West Indian centre. it’s also where Rusko is from, so it has that connection too! I love the Leeds ravers.
Finally, what's next for Caspa?
Just finishing my album ' Alpha Omega’ which will be out in April. Also the new single called 'Setting Sun' will be out just before the album.
