The Yahoo! Wireless Festival preparations are in full swing now. The London festival's already announced headliners can also be seen as a definitive guide of all that is worth listening to in the pop world. The promised live performances of Justin Timberlake and Jay Z has been a major talking point, as have the impending exclusive gigs by A Tribe Called Quest and Nas, some of the most iconic figures that hip hop has ever produced.
Recent developments though only heighten our anticipation of the arrival of Wireless Festival to The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
With Friday and Saturday already sold out, Sunday is the only day left, and what a day it promises to be! Joining Jay Z and Justin Timberlake’s ‘Legends of the Summer’ will be the one and only will.i.am.
2013 will see will.i.am’s return to the festival after a knockout performance back in 2011 with his Black Eyed Peas cohorts. As a singer and songwriter, will.i.am’s gongs have included 7 Grammy’s, 8 American Music Awards, and 3 World Music Awards to name just a few. His popularity since going solo has grown massively, and is now one of the most sought after producers in the world of pop music. With 4 incredibly well received solo albums, and an ridiculous amount of collaborations with only the hottest artists, will.i.am is cementing himself as a true musical genius, one that is at the very zenith of the pop world, and he does not look like losing that position any time soon.
Other announcements across the weekend include the addition of Radio One favourite Zane Lowe, and drum and bass party starters Sub Focus.
Wireless Festival is fast becoming the popular music festival to watch out for. With festival and event legends Live Nation behind the scenes, only the most electric of atmospheres and highest production values are to be expected. With yet more acts in the pipeline, Wireless are really spoiling us with 2013’s edition of the Festival.
