The band are playing a sell out charity dinner at the Inverurie Town Hall tonight 28/4 and we were disappointed we couldn't get tickets so when we saw they were playing in Buckie we drove for more than an hour from Aberdeen and Inverurie based on the excellent reviews of the band.

When we arrived we had to fight our way through the smog of the security staff's cigarette smoke as they stood smoking in the doorway.
Asked the very pleasant man who took my ticket ( I assumed was manager/owner as he was all over the club) if gig was a sellout and he replied that he hadn't sold one ticket despite heavy advertising in local shops.

The club was disgusting!
Everything we touched was sticky, the seats had lots of holes which were taped over and the tape actually stuck to your clothes when you stood up. The floor was so sticky it was disgusting - no way you would have put your handbag down. Plastic glasses only.
One of our party was pregnant so I had called ahead to check the time band were on stage so she didn't have to stand around for too long - told doors open 8:30 and he asked someone connected with the band and they said on stage 9pm
As it turned out there was no need to stand as by 9 there was only 7 people there and I think some of them came with the band.
The pre band music made it near impossible to have a conversation or order a drink at the bar without a course in sign language! The lightshow was frenetic.

The band finally appeared at 10ish - it felt like we were hanging on in the vain hope somebody else would turn up. By this time there would have been about 25 ladies and 4 men. The only dancers to brave the dancefloor was a group of 10-12 tanked up ladies.
I need to say that the band were excellent and gave it 100% considering the stage was tiny and there were a few sound issues that the tech guys had to address - sadly at times it was difficult to make out the lyrics.
The club was freezing.
The toilet doors had no locks.
I spoke to people at the bar half way through the band's set and was surprised and a bit hacked off to find there was 8 of them and they had wandered in without tickets and were never asked for payment. Quite sure this was true of the drunk old gent staggering around and the 3 'hippies' who came in a 10:45. 
I've been in some rough places, been knee deep in mud, had all weathers all for love of live music but this is not a venue I'll be going back to and with hindsight wish I'd never experienced.
