Trinity Arts And Leisure venue information

Elizabeth Fedorowycz, a Kettering based playwright/director and Samantha Theresa Walton, a Kettering based theatre director have teamed up for a witty dark comedy that will blow your socks off this Christmas.

Come along to see the disaster unfold as eight incredibly flawed characters encounter each other at a bowling alley. Set in 1984, and based on two true news stories, ’Strike!’ will amuse, shock and test the nerves of even the most seasoned audience member - please see the synopsis below. A really fun show to see and with a promising cast, this is a no brainer if you want to discover something different this Christmas. With a huge amount of support received in October and a list of people already on their waiting list, the show is likely to sell out again - so we suggest buying your tickets sooner rather than later. It is definitely not family friendly, and the company recommends a minimum age of 16 to see this show.

Synopsis:

Sex, thugs and bowling balls. A very dark comedy. Introducing:

TIM: an extremely religious germaphobe.
CECELIA: a hard-nosed, heavily pregnant, bullish woman.
MALCOLM: a brash lad's lad. Bit of a prick.
SHARON: an enthusiastic, self-involved control freak.
HUW: a Welsh miner and bumbling idiot.
GWEN: Huw's incredibly unhappy wife.
HENRY: the hot bartender. A flirt.
JEAN: a middle-aged alcoholic. Eddie's mother.

One rainy evening, this rabble of narcissists, cheats, drunkards, liars and blundering idiots all find themselves at the Bowlplex, where they unwittingly gatecrash Eddie's 7th birthday party. The rest is history.

Their first run of shows, shown in early October 2019 at Bonkers playhouse in Kettering, had the ladies turning people away at the doors. With a full house every night, they decided to set up a re-run of performances at Bedford Trinity Arts & Leisure Centre on Thursday 19th, Friday 20th and Saturday 21st December 2019. The tour of ‘Strike!’ won’t end there, however. After this, they are branching out to the world-renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival for a shortened adaptation of the play, so this is not one to miss!
