James Romaine is an East-London born, Lincolnshire raised Saxophonist, composer, and bandleader. He graduated from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in 2019 where he studied under the tutelage of highly respected musicians and educators; Mike Williams, John O’Gallagher, Jean Toussaint and Andy Panayi.
Since graduation he has joined the National Youth Jazz Orchestra as lead altoist, performing regularly across the UK in prestigious venues, notably alongside Nikki Iles at Ronnie Scott's playing the music of Kenny Wheeler and at Cafe Oto performing John Zorn's Masada, conducted by Sam Eastmond.
Inspired by traditional and hard bop Jazz through to folk and choral music, the James Romaine Quartet looks to be the vessel for this melting pot of influences.
