Jacob & The Dazey Chain is the vision of Jacob Reese Thornton, a prolific 21-year-old singer, songwriter, and guitarist who brings a richness and depth to his music that exceeds his years. Jacob & The Dazey Chain is infused with the DNA of early influences like Oasis, The Strokes, Green Day, and R.E.M., resulting in an utterly unique blend of Brit-pop and alternative rock. “Roots Run Deep,” the latest single from the band’s upcoming LP is a soaring and irresistible rock anthem that glimmers with fresh power-pop sheen. “It was one of the first songs I wrote after moving to Nashville,” says Jacob. “It’s a declaration of independence. About chasing your North Star without fear — not rambling down the conventional path someone else imposes. I sometimes walk past the building on Church Street where my great-grandmother’s recording studio was in the late 60’s. I feel the weight of that and it moves me. “Out on the street, these roots run deep.”
The track is the follow-up to “Shell Game,” the Mark Needham produced (The Killers, Lindsey Buckingham) single that came about after a chance encounter at the concession stand of a show at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. On release day, the single’s accompanying official music video was chosen as the #1 spot on VEVO’s Incoming Alternative editorial playlist.
A few of Jacob’s early career highlights include being invited and performing at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival in Dallas (2019) and breaking into Amazon’s Top 25, best-selling alternative rock releases as an independent artist with his debut EP, “The Sky Is All I Need to Get High” (2021). The EP’s accompanying single and title track entered the Top 20 downloads for all AAA + U.S. Rock Specialty radio stations, as well as receiving an impressive 250,000 streams within the last three months on Spotify. Select tracks on the EP were recorded with Grammy-nominated artist and producer Bill Reynolds of Band of Horses in Nashville, and featured Rami Jaffee of Foo Fighters on B3 and keyboards. The Aquarian Weekly most recently quoted, “Jacob & The Dazey Chain represent Tasteful, Artistic Nostalgia. Young taste-maker Jacob Thornton, the talented and prolific rockstar-on-the rise who has one hand reaching toward the 2020’s and the other holding on tightly to the 1970’s.”
Jacob is endorsed by Taylor Guitars, Ernie Ball, and is a next-generation brand ambassador for Magnatone Amplifiers. In 2024, Jacob & the Dazey Chain will embark on their first ever tour, playing 100-cap clubs across the East Coast US and select UK cities in support of their debut full-length, “DON’T LOOK AWAY!”, slated for release this summer.
