About

Updated 09/07/24

Anjuna Lounge is a coffee shop/bar in Stirchley, Birmingham that showcases various popular music events with a once a month Saturday Music event as well as Progressive Sessions and World Music Nights, covering melodic, deep, afro & organic house and techno as well as trance, fitting the Anjuna vibe and spirit. DJ's play sets in a chilled and cosy environment allowing people to relax (or have a dance!) to the music on offer. But we felt the time was right to twist up the vibe a little bit and bring the energy levels up, with the always brilliant Hare & Hounds being the venue of choice to make that happen!

Imagine the sun setting on a palm tree covered beach in Goa, you've got a cocktail of your choice, with nothing but good people, lovely vibes and even better music!

We can't promise the weather at any time in the UK, but we can promise you the best in melodic house and techno, afro house and trance for our first event 'After Hours.'

For our first lineup we have Dave Turner bringing you an hour and fifteen minutes of Anjunabeats trance classics. Dave has shared decks with Guy Ornadel, John Askew, AJ Gibson and Gareth Emery (back in 2002) and brings a wealth of experience to the table. Dave is a versatile selector, DJing since 1999 and takes a lot of inspiration for his choices from legends such as Judge Jules and the always enigmatic Paul van Dyk.

Emergency Eye Wash who is a resident DJ at Anjuna Lounge has hosted three World Music Nights this year as well as featuring for Birmingham's Altered Events and being booked for Cloud9's opening night in Leamington Spa. Afro house is his most prominent genre with a focus on glitchy sounds, repetitive vocals and drops that make you dance!

Joining us will also be Paris Camille, who is the founder of Altered Events who are soon to be bringing their fourth event to Birmingham at The Old Print Works. She's played this year at venues in Manchester & London with a booking very recently to share decks with Simon Doty & My Friend for Free From Sleep in Camden, London. Paris will absolutely no doubt get the dancefloor moving!

To finish the bill we have Paul BTW who runs his Progressive Sessions night with another Anjuna Lounge DJ in Obz, which is always a feast of lovely energy. Paul is inspired by old school trance but has a vast knowledge of electronic music experience which is covered on his podcast Mind Therapy Radio which can be found on SoundCloud. Paul is also the man behind the visuals we'll see behind the DJ's at After Hours.

Five hours of music, four DJ's, three  genres of music, venue two, at the one and only Hare & Hounds, Kings Heath.

For this opening night all pre-sale tickets will be £5 (plus Skiddle fee). Doors will close at 1am.

Don't miss out and join us on the start of our After Hours journey.

In addition, there will be a day event at Anjuna Lounge before we head to Kings Heath.

From 3PM-8:30PM we have Bekimachine, JoBr, Vipond, Obz & Ikoni on the decks.

So if you're around a little earlier, pop along as we warm up towards the night time, free entry.
