Review of Music from the Jilted Generation
In 35 years of going to raves, clubs and live events, I've only ever walked out early about three times. This was one of them. It was advertised as an old skool rave event, but was instead some self indulgent "DJ" just playing a set list that he was mixing to. He turned some of the most iconic dance tunes into a generic drivel. He had a room with people that had travelled miles to come and dance to, yet 90% of the time the floor was empty. He was so self obsessed, I don't think he even noticed, and if he did, he didn't either care, or have the talent to turn it around.
Worst DJ set I've ever come across.

Review of Hare And Hounds Kings Heath
what an amazing concert by Southern River Band an Australian rock band that just get down to roots with rock, Status Quo meets AC/DC, they rocked the great hare and hounds on 26th nov and played a song called "Stan Qualen" which i regard as one of rocks greatest ever songs, Cal called me his dad after i took my shirt of at the gig due to overdoing my air-guitaring, (not bad for a 63 year old rocker) and at the end the superb drummer gave me his drum stick and said i had deserved it for my part in making this one of the best concerts in a small 150 people venue that was amazing , well done all and can't wait to go again. check out the band on you tube, they will be huge soon worldwide and the hare and hounds should be proud of their venue. top band, top venue me and my 19 year old grandson had the time of our lives, proper rock music and great hall -loved it.

Review of Chris Cleverley & Friends - Christmas E.P Launch
Only days away from the release of the new EP this audience showed warm enthusiasm from the very beginning. Confidently opening the set with The Scarlet Letter and Borderlands from the Epilogues EP which came out earlier this year, Chris was then joined by friends and fellow musicians for a very special evening. The set moved into Christmas with a truly enchanting arrangement of the Coventry Carol in a 3-part acapella harmony with Kathy Pilkington and Kim Lowings.
In the Shadow of John the Devine is a 5 track EP of new songs with a winter theme - 4 originals and one Sufjan Stevens cover. The Ringing of Bells has a country church bell-ringing, up-lifting sound to it. For a Winter Angel is more of a lullaby which borrows from 'the first Noel' with a message of comfort and hope for troubled souls. Vespers builds gently from a piano backing, then brings in bass and echoey guitar with backing vocals. Snowfall, My Evergreen is a story-song, loosely based on 'The Snowman' where the wonder and intense joy brought by the snowman is set against his own brief existence. As the set finale, Sister Winter sent the Hare & Hounds audience away into the December night with a wish for a Happy Christmas.
Thanks to everyone for such a joyous start to the festive season.
