Review of CLOSEUP COMEDY at Hockley Social Club with Carl Hutchinson
Great atmosphere music in the background not for dancing in the intermission probably purposefully due to it being a comedy night. Drinks a little expensive, comedy was just ok

Review of RBC Salsa Orchestra at Hockley Social Club
My first time at this venue, and I enjoyed it. Plenty of tables, and a reasonable range of food. On the downside the venue was cold, and didn't significantly warm up with the arrival of more punters and the band. It was minus 1 outside, but there appeared to be no heating inside. On any less cold night I'm sure there'd be no problem.
The band were excellent and performed a good range of salsa music from around the Latin world, plus some cumbia from Colombia. The brass section was great. The percussion section was fabulous, and the four girl singers handled the Spanish lyrics wonderfully well. It was quite a show, with 19 musicians/singers on stage. They did just under an hour before the interval plus another 50 minutes or so after the break, so it was very good value. I shall look out for their next gig.
PS There seemed to be plenty of places to park on the street for nothing which was handy.
