The Cool Ruler musical curates the story of the legendary Gregory Isaacs on stage with a full live, five-piece band with sensational vocals from Terence Wallen.
Gregory born 15th July 1951, Fletcher Land, Kingston Jamaica.
Gregory was described by Miles Milo in the New York Times as the most exquisite voice in reggae,
He dominated the reggae scene during the 70s, 80’ and 90’s decades.
Gregory made his recording debut collaborating with Winston Sinclair in 1968 on a track called “Another Heartache” although this record did not achieve much, he continued and teamed up with two other vocalists to form a group called the Concords.
After the group was banded Gregory launched a solo career and the rest is history. Starting in 1973 with friend Errol Dunkley they set up the African museum label and had a massive hit with “My only lover “credited as the first lovers rock record ever made this was followed with a string of other hits “all I have is love” “slave driver “
Gregory recorded his first album “In Person” and went on to record over 200 albums.
The Cool Ruler album and Soon Forward was released by Richard Branson’s Virgin Records exposing Gregory to an international market.
Gregory was signed to Island Records and had massive cross over hits Night Nurse and Rumours.
