Hot on the heels of the announcement of her forthcoming new album “TELL DEM IT'S SUNNY”, Greentea Peng has unveiled the captivating music video for her latest single, "One Foot". Greentea will also hit the road across the UK and Europe in support of the record in the Spring. Early access tickets will be available to those signed up to Greentea Peng’s mailing list on Wednesday, general sale will be available to purchase on Friday 6th of December at 10:00AM (GMT).The "One Foot" music video, filmed in the heart of London, perfectly complements the track's introspective sonics. Shot in monochrome, the video is both moody and mesmerizing, reflecting the soulful depth and emotion that has become Greentea Peng's trademark. Directed by the artist herself in collaboration with ABOVEGROUND, the video perfectly encapsulates the themes of balance and uncertainty that form the bedrock of the song.
Known for her magnetic stage presence and genre-defying artistry, Greentea Peng is gearing up to bring her latest work to life on stage across the UK and Europe. Expect an immersive live experience that fuses her distinctive voice with her rich blend of soul, dub, and jazz influences. A seasoned live performer, Peng’s shows are celebrated for their energy, intimacy, and the unique connection she creates with her audience.
Whereas her debut album opus, 2021’s transportative MAN MADE, looked outward into the world - Greentea’s lens interpreting the collective and universal experiences of a charged period of time - “TELL DEM IT’S SUNNY” draws inward, from global place-finding, to the raw primality of being human. The politics of self anchors this 14 song exploration.
First single“TARDIS (hardest)” was a perfect introduction to this new era - a fearless, low-swung manifesto, showcasing Peng’s unmistakable word-craft over production which is at once tower-block streetwise and mystical. “One Foot”, produced by OCT8VES (Jon Mills and Nat Powers), is a standout example of the stop-in-your-tracks vocals which punctuate Peng’s spoken-truths throughout the album. The raw and hypnotic instrumentation is perfectly complemented by Greentea’s dynamic vocal delivery.
"One foot front and back again, the journey of perpetual longing."
- Greentea Peng
Given the personal growth of the past 3 years, it comes as no surprise that the creative process of “TELL DEM IT’S SUNNY” is more expressive and hands-on than ever before, with Peng playing bass on multiple tracks and delving more deeply into the production side of the craft. She is joined by Longtime collaborators, Earbuds, Samo, Nat Powers and St.Francis Hotel.
With her signature honeyed vocals, Greentea Peng builds smoky soundscapes and spiritual anthems, lacing her music with genre-spanning influences across everything from dub, reggae, jazz, contemporary hip-hop and psychedelic rock. Both deeply personal and politically prescient, Greentea’s music has touched audiences across the globe. A performance of her song “Downers” on COLORS went viral in 2019, interspersed with celebrated EPs and singles. Her debut album, MAN MADE, arrived in 2021 to widespread acclaim, followed by the 2022’s equally revered mixtape GREENZONE 108. From collaborations with U.K heavyweights such as Goldie, The Streets, Neneh Cherry and Swindle, Greentea continues to align with like-minded, game-changing artists who exist in their own lane. This past summer Greentea has hosted her very own Rinse show, graced Glastonbury with a surprise DJ set, and played alongside Yussef Dayes at his curated Summer Dayes festival.
