Review of MADE Festival 2017
I bought VIP tickets to MADE and MADE My Night, as I was really impressed with the line-up, and it was on my Birthday. =)
We made the 7.5hr trek to Birmingham to have a bit of a let-down to be honest. The concept of the festival, and the location were spot on, as were the productions and acts themselves. However, I felt that the amount of security was a bit heavy-handed, disorganised and very intimidating. Despite being a sober raver, I was made to feel uncomfortable before we even got into the main arena. ( I understand that security needs to be tight, but felt a little excessive and the use of sniffer dogs is proven to be ineffective and problematic- high risk of people pre-loading and ending up in hospital, or in this particular case, people just getting horrendously drunk instead. I'd much prefer fluffy ravers to drunk ones!) We arrived at 1pm, and by 2pm, there were already pass-outs in the road, and by 4pm, the actual human traffic to get between stages was horrendous, so we retreated to the VIP lounge.
The VIP lounge was actually a pretty awesome little place, with outside seating area with tables and benches, a small bar indoors, proper toilets, a dancefloor, and cute upstairs nook with lots of sofas, bean bags and a games console. On the downside, there were only two tenders working the bar, and after waiting for 40 minutes to ask for some water, I was told "We don't have water at this bar" and I'd have to buy a c**e. It is a human right to have access to water, and after seeing how many paralytic or exhausted people there were, I feel that a monitored water station would have been a good addition to avoid congestion at the bar, as at least four or five people who had been queuing with me, also got turned away for water.
I ate at two of the food stands; the wood fired pizza was really nice, only waited for a short while, and there was plenty of seating to sit down and enjoy it. However, I wasn't as impressed with being sold just a sausage at the hotdog stand because they'd run out of buns, and only had two sausages left (at 6pm!) Couldn't fault the catering staff, as they were very polite and cheerful, but the location of the catering vans near the toilets was a bit of an issue as people were urinating in the road, on our feet... On the mention of toilets- chaos! I'm extremely glad I purchased the VIP ticket so that I only had to wait 15 minutes to use a toilet, (which in my case was a God-send as I'm pregnant!) but to my knowledge, there were very few access toilets or priority toilets for people who were really of need. It was a bit of a free-for-all and I saw at least 3 or 4 women soiling themselves in the queues which was unpleasant for everyone, no doubt themselves!
The atmosphere itself was mixed. I'm a pretty seasoned raver, so I have no issue with messy people, I've been there myself- so long as everyone's smiling and having fun, it's all good. However, the sheer amount of drunk, aggressive people was shocking, and it was a bit like a game of drunk-driver dodgem's to get to a space for a good skank. Nonetheless, once actually near the stage, many good dances were enjoyed, and we had a wicked time. Camo and Krooked were on form!

Review of MADE Festival 2017
Overall, a good day at a reasonable cost for the acts that you get to see. There was a good selection of food, but I was highly disappointed with the washroom situation. There was NO attempt at all to ensure that lines were kept moving. Instead, people entered the toilets with 2-3 people at a time and held the line up for a ridiculously long time. I accept that one would need to wait in line for the washroom, but this was just silly. Security literally did not care and this went on for the entire day and night.

Review of MADE Festival 2017
Paid for VIP, this should have included a queue jump but that was barely the case. The bar in the VIP was tiny over croweded and stupidly warm. We waited an hour for drinks at least 30 mins for the toilets which were disgusting. Overall is was a terrible festival, lots of fights, too many people so we couldn't even get into some of the rooms
