Over three decades, Cake International has grown into a premier global gathering for cake enthusiasts, professionals, and artists, showcasing the finest in cake artistry and innovation. To celebrate Cake International’s big birthday, a 2-metre-wide cake display will be at the entrance, welcoming visitors to the larger-than-life show, and providing the perfect photo backdrop for social photos.
Visitors should be prepared for a royal welcome at this year’s show, as world class sugar artist Emma Jayne Cake Design creates a life-size cake of Queen Elizabeth the First, Emma’s most intricate feature to date, celebrating the Queen in sugar-coated glory. Other showstopping features include a walkthrough sugar garden by Immaculate Confections and the Terror Toy shop by popular Sugar Screams.
Following the worldwide triumph of her Eras Tour, Swifties can immerse themselves in a life-sized cake of Taylor Swift at this years CI. The acclaimed artist Elza Baldzhiyska will craft this global sensation, capturing every detail, including her iconic show-stopping costume. The life-sized cake promises to capture Taylor Swift’s charm and grace that’ll have fans drooling and snapping selfies.
Cake International is more than just a show, being home to the biggest and most esteemed cake competition in the world, attracting competitors from all around the globe. With the number of entries expected to be in the thousands, this year the head judges have added a wildcard category for competitors to enter, challenging them with the task of creating a wearable Masquerade Headdress, made from cake! Open to anyone, and with a junior division for under 16s also taking place, the competition is a highlight of the show celebrating the creativity and skill of cake decorators worldwide.
Visitors can enjoy three full days of show stopping content and watch live demonstrations from their
favourite cake artists and bakers, take part in academy workshops, and find out who will be crowned the 2024 Best in Show winners.
The workshops at Cake International will provide visitors with an opportunity to learn from some of the most talented artists in the cake industry. With classes available on a variety of baking categories, from Bridgerton Style cakes with internationally renowned teacher Zoe Clark to Wafer Paper Flowers with sugar craft artist Beata Tomasiewicz. Spanish cake artist and award winner Carla Puig will be giving just 10 students the opportunity to learn in a very intimate environment how to create lifelike pieces. In small classroom settings, visitors will receive a hands-on learning experience, get exclusive access to techniques, tips and tricks from their tutor of choice.
Alongside Cake International, the NEC, Birmingham, will also be hosting Bake International. Taking place at the same time, visitors can explore a baking paradise, from breads to sweet treat pastries. Whether visitors are fans of baking, sculpting, buttercream, modelling, airbrushing or just enjoying cake, Cake International and Bake International has something for everyone to enjoy.
