Uncover Music presents
ACROBVT
ACROBVT started life as the 4-piece, Rainbreakers, whose soulful blues-rock sound and a duo of positively received EPs won them fandom across the UK and continental Europe. Selling out tours and support slots with the likes of the Temperance Movement promised all the momentum for a breakthrough, until the familiar villains we know as COVID, and lockdowns required a hard reset.
Perhaps, though, this was a blessing in disguise. Time away from the stage and studio afforded Ben Edwards (vocals) a moment of respite to take stock of the longevity of their sound – were they too retro for the mainstream? Did their music appeal too niche an audience for broader recognition? During this period of soul-searching, they realized that the true motivation behind their music was the art of songwriting itself, not the specific genres they were exploring.
Ben had aways wanted to take a stab at writing music inspired by the noughties bands he was enamoured with in his youth. Acts such as Nothing But Thieves, Maroon 5, Coldplay, Counting Crows, OneRepublic, and Imagine Dragons were integral to his formative years and directly influenced his singing and writing. It seemed that now was the perfect opportunity to develop a sound that incorporated his latter-life rock sensibilities into the contemporary pop structures of his early heroes.
During writing sessions, he realised how far from Rainbreakers’ sound he was straying, and how a new sound demanded a new name and separation of projects. Settling on ACROBVT (alluding to their strength, determination, and resilience he identified with), it was shortly after that Mikey Demus of raga-metal giants Skindred approached them to get together for some writing sessions swiftly followed by producer James Loughrey, famed for his engineering work on the iconic Sophie Ellis-Bextor track ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ and for producing Skindred, Lionel Richie, Manic Street Preachers, Page & Plant, Bjork, and Def Leppard. A dynamic alt rock-pop sound was cemented, and their debut tracks ‘Neon’ and ‘Can’t Put You Down’ were penned.
ACROBVT has performed at international showcase events this year including MUSEXPO (Los Angeles), The Great Escape (Brighton), and will be doing their first fan and music industry showcase at the renowned Flux Bau in Berlin, Germany in September with support from the influential Flux FM radio and media network and have been presented for showcase consideration at Eurosonicin Holland in early 2025.
The band has garnered international radio support for their previous single ‘Neon’on influential radio stations globally including KXTE Las Vegas (US); Radio Doble Nueve (Peru), Radio 1 (India), 2XM (Ireland), WNNX Atlanta, GA (US), Flux FM in Stuttgart / Berlin (Germany), KWSS Phoenix, AZ (US), as well as many others around the world – and continues to build its presence across Spotify and other streaming platforms.
