About

On Friday 13 December, Live In The Library Presents... welcomes Demi Marriner & her band for a hometown show by the 3 time nominee in the UK Blues Awards 2024 (UK Emerging Act, Acoustic Blues Act & Blues Vocalist). Opening the night we're pleased to present a solo set from Sean Duggan of Steady Habits.

The name Demi Marriner is common tongue in the UK music scene, and for good reason.

Demi Marriner is a songwriter well worth keeping track of. Her passion and emotion are so contagious, it is almost impossible to not be captivated from the offset. Whether she’s pouring out her heart in an intimate solo shows, or kicking down the doors with her incredible backing band, Demi knows how to impress.

Winner of the Whispering Bob Harris' Emerging Artist Award at the 2021 UK Americana Awards, Demi released her highly anticipated debut record 'The Things We Didn't Say' in July 2023 which has received much acclaim.

With endorsements from Whispering Bob Harris, Under The Apple Tree, Chris Difford, The House Of Songs and AMA UK, Demi is no doubt an artist to look out for.

Following a successful debut EP 'Tracks and Trails', and follow up EP 'Dandelion' reaching numbers 1 and 2 respectively in the iTunes UK Country Album Charts, the songstress' boots have travelled across the UK, Europe and USA and have already graced many a great stage, including performances at Americana Fest Nashville, Wilderness Festival, Beardy Folk Festival, Wychwood Festival, Cheltenham Jazz Festival and Countryfile Live to name a few. She has also been invited to perform with Rufus Wainwright, Guy Chambers, Sam Outlaw, Jarrod Dickenson, Jon Gomm, Wildwood Kin, Ferris & Sylvester, Elles Bailey, Cattle and Cane, Tia McGraff, BJ Barham and many many more.

As well as performing her own music, co-writing with/for other artists and being invited to various songwriting retreats such as Chris Diffords' retreat at Pennard House and The House of Songs retreat in Arkansas, Demi has also written for numerous TV and film productions, including a collaboration with the writers of multi-award winning musical ‘Dearly Departed’ to provide a full original score to their movie, which has gone on to receive awards from the likes of The Royal Television Society, Cheltenham International Film Festival and Bellingham Music Film Festival, as well as winning ‘Best International Film’ at the Carolina Fear Fest Awards.

"This was not the performance of an up and coming artist, this was an artist that was starting at the top of her game."

The Rockpit - Live Album Show Review

"Mature, strong and timeless – The Things We Didn’t Say is an ‘Old Soul’ Americana/Country album that needs to be heard from start to finish. Incredibly rich, soulful melodies – raw, melodic vocals – lyrics to captivate you – Demi has delivered an exceptional piece of art that sits up there as one of the best albums we have heard in 2023."

Building Our Own Nashville - Album Review

"Black Deer’s Emerging Artist of the Year, 2023, shines in her full length debut, bridging old school Nashville with SoCal Americana."

At The Barrier - Album Review

"It is the things that Demi Marriner does say on her album ‘The Things We Didn’t Say’ that make it such a pleasure to listen to. Lots of lovely lyrics that wheedle their way into the ear. Wrapped in the broad genre of Americana, they sit neatly as a collection of emotional portraits. Love, regret, hope and loss are all on display on a record that finds her voice front and centre. She is a woman of words, and how beautifully does she put them together."

"The birth of a superstar!"

DC Brown

"Demi is an artist that expresses emotions in such a descriptive way and as such draws the listener in."

Forever British Country

"One of the leading ladies on the UK Country circuit."
