Review of Birmingham International Ska & Reggae Festival
Absolutely top notch inaugural ska festival. Keeping everything crossed it's on again next year. Brilliant vibes all weekend. Great organisation, top bands, cracking venue and staff

Review of Birmingham International Ska & Reggae Festival
Plenty of parking space for day trippers, plenty of space for campers plus being allowed to park your vehicle adjacent to your tent was a bonus. Main arena quite intimate, 4 different food vendors all very reasonably priced, 1 bar but with 3 sets of pumps x 4 seemed to cope with demand. Various canned alcoholic drinks on offer too, all drinks very reasonably priced for a festival.
All the staff were helpful and friendly, security did a good job and a special mention on the portaloos. There weren't too many and they did fill quite quickly (captive crowd lol). They did require servicing on a regular basis but the organisers then put dedicated staff in place to monitor the toilet weight of use shall we say. The staff directed users to the unoccupied loos, there was ample hand gel on tables outside etc - basically after a bit of a hiccup on first day, they got the loos situation sorted quickly and bang on rest of the weekend.
ALL the acts/bands were fantastic (except the very first opening act, imho. Every song was about w**d!) but apart from him, every band was amazing. The interval DJs were also very on point and played great music.
Finally, the weather leading up to the event was regularly wet - lots of rain several days leading up to the date. This made the camping field and area in front of main stage quite wet, soggy and squidgy. There was a tractor on stand by for stuck vehicles entering the camping field (and on leaving on Sunday evening/Monday morning. Friday and Saturday were dry and overcast but Sunday was like being in Spain. Wall to wall sunshine, the ground dried pretty well and most vehicles could leave on Monday morning under their own steam.
So, some teething problems yes but quickly addressed by the organisers. Overall, music, food, beer, camping and hospitality absolutely fabulous. Congratulations to the event organisers, we'll be back next year if it's held.

Toilets always cleaned throughout the day. Bar prices good, food stalls bit space. Plenty of help on hand if anyone got stuck in the field. Security guys very helpful, always chatty and pleasant.

We really enjoyed ourselves. The headline acts were great. Only disappointment was that we decided to miss the final night headline act as we had a long journey home.
