Bob Burke Band
Bob Burke is known to the 90s Bournemouth music community as the keyboardist with The Inhabitants of Yip and Mad Professor Brown’s Giant Ego Trip, but after transitioning to singer-guitarist, he has produced and toured with Lou Brown, Tinderbox and Dandelion Charm, among others, and written extensively as a solo artist. His observational songs include ‘Orion’s Belt’, about a homeless man’s relationship with the night sky, and ‘Jacob’s Song’, about living in a tourist area under a travel ban.
The full band often convene for Purbeck Valley Folk Festival and have been complimented for the party vibe they bring to the stage. You can be assured of an engaging, thought-provoking and uplifting set!
The Julie Band
“England’s best kept secret: The Julie Band, fronted by spunky British newcomer Julie Staines, combines catchy pop hooks and a 90s ‘Lulu-meets-Sam Phillips’ vocal sensibility”. Sony Music Entertainment 1998
The Julie Band returns for one night only, with the revival of British Racing Green, the album that first put them on the map when song writing duo Julie Staines and Steve Ennever were signed to Columbia Records in the late ‘90s.
The opening track Bad Day—famously featured in The Shrink Is Instarring Courteney Cox and Cruel Intentions 2,with the song Learn how to fly Jon in the filmThe In Crowd.
The album blends infectious melodic riffs with a punchy, driven rhythm section. Julie’s sharp-witted lyrics, laced with both cynicism and humour, cut through with a raw energy that defines the band’s signature sound. A must-hear for fans of classic alt-rock with a sharp edge.
