Wow. What an amazing experience. Beautiful harmonies. Brilliant song writing. Some of the audience were moved to tears. The intimate setting was perfect for their music. Thank you boys.

Review of Bella, Polly and The Magpies

Bella Polly and the Magpies were utterly awesome.
But we were pissed off because it is a small venue and the best seats were reserved for the family and friends. Us paying guests were restricted to the side behind pillars with restricted views. That was not a classy thing to do. At some points it felt like a private session with us paying chumps just to cover costs. There were about fifteen friends and family taking up the entire seating in front of the performance area
The sound was awful and the band were ill-served by the two clowns doing the sound. You would think as a venue It would have checked and re-checked all the connections, all the mics and that they would know the best sound quality of their own space. They failed to get these things right during the bands warm up and took half an hour before the band started, fiddling about. Once the band started they kept having to mess with connections and sound quality. It was a seriously crap perfiormance from the venue.
The support was quite simply the very worst musical act that I have ever paid to see. They were completely awful but yet allowed over half an hour on stage. I suspect they were on as a favour to someone.
That together with the sound problems completely spoiled what should have been a great night out.
We will never go there again.
Although the cafe staff were very friendly, the apple streusel cake was alas dry and weird, a foretaste of the sound boys competence.
Really Not a good night.
Finally. their flyers clearly stated 7-10 pm and NO entry after 7.30. Bugger all happened between 7 and 8, so why was there a restriction advertised. We had bought tickets in advance but many seemed to walk in without paying.
It was s**te

The Magpies were superb. A few technical issues with the sound and a poor support act. Thoroughly recommend the venue but get there early as there are some restricted views

lovely folk and country band in an unusual, cosy venue. a few sound issues at the start but that sort of added to the entertainment.

First time at this venue and we were pleasantly surprised. Relatively small space but plenty of seating, varying from sofas to regular tables and chairs. Good view of the stage and a good sound.

No alcohol licence but audience members can bring their own alcohol, if desired. What is on offer is a choice of tea, coffee, cakes, and for tose cooler evenings, warming soup! The venue is situated in an old mill and it can get a bit chilly, warnings are issued to patrons to wrap up well, blankets are provided and there is a heating system so the promoters do not neglect their audience.

This was the second time of seeing Son of Town Hall and we were not disappointed. A set of two halves was performed and we were regaled with tales of romance, derring do on the seas and tales of adventure. This is a duo comprising Ben Parker from London and David Berkeley from Santa Fe, New Mexico. They perform as a duo travelling the oceans of seas of the world sometime in the 19th century and dress accordingly. They offer sumptuos voices that interweave magnificently and have a wonderful, compatible guitar style. For a great evening's experience that will warm the c**kles of one's heart Son of Town Hall are an experience not to be missed. Enjoy them the next time they hit our shores, you will not be disappointed.
