Review of New Love, Alternative Dating Night - Dress Up And Date
No one New Love is the same. Every month there are new people to meet, new entertainment and activities. But the best thing is, experiencing all of this with likeminded people. This is an event I can rock up to on my own and leave feeling utterly connected.

Review of New Love - Alternative Dating Night, September 28th
Warm, friendly, fun, inclusive. It's hard to imagine the experience of an event for those practicing alternative love without actually being there. So, all I would say is, go along and give it a try.

Review of New Love - Alternative Dating Night, September 28th
This was my first time at New Love in Brighton and I'm very glad I went! I think I would describe my first experience as a journey. I'm transgender, neurodivergent, and started my evening very unsure if I would even go out, but I went with it, knowing that New Love would be a safe space for me. It took me a little while to settle down, I was very nervous, and decided I would sit out for some activities, which was fine, I didn't feel any pressure to be or do anything. My preference, generally, is to just try to be around people, hopefully make connections, and see what happens, and I found a little space to sit for while where I had a reasonably clear head. I wasn't sure if I would stay but felt glad I had gone. The host and organiser for the evening came over at one point and was welcoming, respectful, and I felt genuinely 'seen', supported and empowered. After a little while I found I had managed to just chat with a few people in a easy, 'organic' way, the connections I made felt authentic, and I felt safe to be myself among people. By the end of the night, I had stayed to the end, and I was actually feeling like I didn't want to leave!
Overall, I felt safe, like I had some good space, and I felt genuinely connected. I feel like there is a sense of community here, and of course, in a very Brighton kind of way!

Ironworks is a good venue but the prices of drinks are very expensive. The new love staff are lovely and I really wish I could make better use of the event.

Review of New Love, Alternative Dating Night - 24th August
I was a little nervous before coming to New Love, partly because I was worried everyone would be polyamourous, or I wouldn't fit in in some way. As soon as I arrived I forgot all about my worries, there were fun icebreaker games and a huge range of people. I felt that every activity was geared towards celebrating who we each are and learning about our similarities and differences with the other attendees.
New Love is a wonderful way to meet loads of interesting people and I had a great time doing fun activities. It was more like a great night out where everyone chats to each other, than the fairly cold and jarring dating events I've tried. It's also the only dating event I've ever met someone I've had a spark with.
A huge thanks to the team who set up this event, I can't wait to come again soon!

Review of New Love, Alternative Dating Night - 24th August
Had an absolute blast at this event, I was super nervous before going in as I'd never been to something like this, and always wanted to
The staff were incredible friendly and welcoming on entering, the hostesses were incredible on the night organizing the event, showing us around, introducing us to people and making sure the event was fun for everyone. They even hosted some amazing activities around the venue like jenga, temp tattoo station, painting, drawing, and loads of other stuff, including life drawing
The icebreakers were awesome at the beginning to get to know the people next to you, and the circle icebreaker was great as we got to meet lots of different people from different sexualities, backgrounds and interests. This really takes the pressure off of the dating side, and made some new friends off it
The venue was awesome, spacious, and the people were friendly and consenting, I'd love to come again and again, as it's just such a nice place to be to just be yourself, with no expectations of you, meeting people that have like-minds
Brilliant event, 10/10 would recommend and hit me up if anyone wants to go and wants a support partner 😀
Well done everyone 😍😍

Review of New Love, Alternative Dating Night - 24th August
I was completely confused by the event I went to and totally uncomfortable, which I am
absolutely gutted about as I had really been looking forward to this and had psyched myself up to put myself out there. If you would be interested in having a conversation I would be happy to discuss further as it’s hard to put in a small text box. The event was advertised as an alternative dating experience and suitable for a whole range of people as detailed in the event information. I really don’t feel it has been thought through fully however and led to an extremely uncomfortable and triggering experience for me. The first hour of icebreakers was so generalised that I spent an entire hour “breaking the ice” with men. I don’t date men. So perhaps it needs to be advertised as a pansexual event? You detailed in the event information that “consent” was an important part of the event but did not detail in the event information that there would be an entire table of sex toys, people walking around in their underwear and that the “cuddle corner” was more like a heavy petting area. I did not consent to any of that when I purchased a ticket for a dating event and I left early very upset and feeling violated by the experience. I’m no prude, I just didn’t consent to experiencing that. I’m non-monogamous and interested in meeting others of that persuasion but it’s a huge assumption to think that anyone non-monogamous would be ok with that kind of environment under the title of a “dating night”.

Review of New Love - Alternative Dating Night at Ironworks
Don't be put off for appearing to be walking into some sort of industrial building as the venue is modern, clean, comfortable & in any case the strength of the event is the people that come to New Love. Come open minded and prepared to participate or watch observing as much or little as you like. I'm not sure I would call it a "dating night" as arguably there's no more/less opportunity to meet someone than many other outlets (including those not advertised as such). It's certainly "alternative" (does provide opportunity to meet people (but you need to take into account the diversity may not match what you may be looking for because of the difference and diversity)), however the inclusion, non-judgemental, openness, friendly attitudes and values of those attracted to the event is its overall strength. Most of the first hour or thereabouts events to voluntarily participate in and get to know others are available throughout the evening, but it's well worth arriving at the beginning particularly if shy/introvert. Lots of acceptance within a positive vibe. The venue/event would really benefit from some form of cloakroom, even a temporary measure would be useful, particularly as more inclement weather arrives. It was a pleasure to reacquaint myself with several friendly faces from previous New Love events.
