Music Action International: Stone Flowers Documentary Screening
A Documentary about the Power of Music
Music Action International and Stone Flowers present a special
screening of the award-winning film Stone Flowers – songs of hope
and defiance.
A group of refugee torture survivors are forced to flee their countries and seek safety in Manchester. While navigating the UK’s asylum system, they join a music collective, creating powerful songs together in Arabic, Farsi, Lingala, French, Tamil and English. From the first days of songwriting and recording through to performances, this award-winning film follows a nine year journey of rebuilding lives through the power of music.
The film will be screened in the Community Space in Jubilee Library at 11.00, before the music event.
Entry is free, but we ask if people can register in advance. Thanks.
Please note the film contains scenes of people talking about some of the challenges they have faced and may be upsetting for some.
