Review of WAH - Mungos HI FI Sound System ft. Charlie P
The acoustic in the place was very poor and especially unpleasant in areas between different rooms even with the doors closed. We got shouted at by the bouncer for not having our IDs ready at the entrance, when we were visibly over 25 and no sign said to get it ready. The line up outside the main act was not representative of a dub night, with several instances of dub step, techno and hardcore drum and bass being played before the main act. There were way too many people in the club to the point that I was unsure that the safety standards had been met. Dancing to the main act in the main room was impossible because of lack of space. Whilst Mungo’s performance was predictably the best, they also made a very lazy effort, by playing a range of classics that don’t belong to them and patching them up with some of their greatest successes with very quick switches. I am no mixing expert but I can go as far as telling that it was nothing extraordinary.
