About

Since 1999, Wah Wah 45s has proved itself as a stalwart of open-minded soulful music. Along the way they’ve signed the UK’s Afrobeat Ambassador and Fela Kuti disciple, Dele Sosimi; infamous East London brass ensemble Hackney Colliery Band; cult south coast reggae and dub outfit Resonators; soulful rock combo The Milk and many more.

Their club nights and live events over the years have proved legendary, providing early shows for the likes of Jamie Woon, Corrine Bailey Rae, Matthew Halsall and Emeli Sande, as well as ground breaking performances from label artists such as Scrimshire, Colman Brothers and the late, great Henri-Pierre Noel. DJ sets have featured the cream of the eclectic music scene including Gilles Peterson, Quantic, Jazzie B, Luke Una, Rebecca Vasmant, Norman Jay and countless others.

This year is a significant one as they mark 25 years of releases, live shows, club nights and events, and on October 11th  they’ll be celebrating in style with a Bristol party featuring recent signing, the Ghanian highlife master Afla Sackey, & his band Afrik Bawantu.

Ghanaian vocalist and djembe drummer Afla Sackey, along with his band Afrik Bawantu, have fulfilled the dream of blending traditional Ghanaian music with sizzling Afrobeat grooves, topping it off with an irresistibly funky twist! Their unique blend of vibrant African rhythms with brisk, animated horn sections and heavy basslines bring a fresh perspective to the Afrobeat genre.

Label head Dom Servini has rocked his share of parties around the world and festivals from We Out Here to Croatia, and also has regular radio shows on Soho Radio, D95B (Berlin) and Jazz FM, with everything from jazz dance to hip hop.

And residents John Stapleton and Boom Operator have just celebrated five years of DJing together as La Bomba, with their mix of funky vintage vinyl from around the world proving irresistible on the dance floor!
