Go Vegan for the Environment during Bristol Green Capital 2015, say VegfestUK Organisers VegfestUK organisers whose Bristol show is now in its 13th consecutive year, today issued a clear plea to Bristol people to consider going vegan on environmental grounds. With Bristol being the Green Capital of Europe in 2015, the city is awash with initiatives to green up businesses, organisations, services, schools, shops, and a whole mix of different elements that make up the fabric of this fine city. But the big one – livestock farming, which means eating meat and dairy – seems to be left off the agenda. “Bristol is obviously proud to be the European Green Capital in 2015,” says VegfestUK organisers. “But the biggest contribution to global warming is just not being addressed at all. What exactly is the Bristol Green Capital committee doing to put Livestock Farming firmly on the agenda? Livestock farming accounts for more than 50% of water use and creates over 50% of greenhouse emissions – should we not be seeing the BGC Committee take the lead in raising awareness of this? The solution to these problems is simple – go vegan. So why doesn’t the Committee promote this as the best solution? “Going vegan is easy – in fact it's never been easier. There's so many incredibly good vegan options out there now. It really isn't hard. VegfestUK Bristol on May 23rd 24th at the Amphitheatre, showcases some of the latest vegan products on the market, as well as stacks of cookery demos, talks, workshops, presentations, designed to help people see just how easy it is to go vegan, live vegan and stay vegan. Taking place in the historic setting of the outdoor Amphitheatre on Bristol Harbourside, VegfestUK Bristol also plays host to 15 globally inspired caterers serving a mouthwatering selection of vegan street food, plus 140 stalls with free samples and special offers aplenty on the trendiest vegan products. The vegan food, shopping and education come on top of a range of family-friendly activities such as kids cookery classes, smoothie bikes, a Last Man Standing mat, a Disco Dome, Water Fights, plus live acoustic acts before 5pm and recorded music from DJ's such as Alfredo (Ibiza) and LTJ Bukem afterwards.
