What is the Summer Ball?

The UWE Summer Ball is your chance to celebrate completing the end of your academic year at UWE!

Important: please note that the event is cashless, so please bring alternative forms of payment.

Is there a dress code?

As it’s a Ball, we advise a formal dress code for everyone attending although please consider that it is an outdoor event when choosing your outfit and footwear.

Who can attend?

Any current student at UWE can purchase tickets to the Summer Ball. As a student, you can purchase up to two tickets, and one of these can be for a guest who is not a student at the UWE.

The Summer Ball is an over 18s event, so you (and any guests you bring) must be over the age of 18. Valid photographic ID (driving licence, passport, PASS card) must be produced at the entrance and on request at the bars inside the Ball.

Where is the Summer Ball, and when?

The Summer Ball is being held at the Old Down Estate, Foxholes Lane, Tockington, Bristol BS32 4PG - https://www.olddownestate.co.uk/

It is taking place on Wednesday 21st May 2025, from 12pm to 10pm

How do I get there?

You can get there via taxi or we will be offering a bus service which will be an added cost to your original ticket. You will be notified in the new year when bus tickets are available.

There is no parking available at the event.

What is included in my ticket, and what should I expect?

Entry to the event, complimentary drink upon arrival, free to play games, multiple stages of music and entertainment through the day!

Is the event accessible?

Can I bring my own food and drink?

No, you are not permitted to bring your own food and drinks. Food stalls and bars are available once inside.

You are also not permitted to bring drugs, weapons, sharp objects, fireworks, animals (except guide dogs) or anything illegal.

Random searches will be conducted at the entrance.

Is there food served at the event?

Yes. There will be a number of stands selling food at the Summer Ball, with options suitable for various dietary choices and requirements.

Will there be a cloakroom available?

Yes!

What is the latest entry time?

Last entry is 4pm.

Can I leave the Ball and re-enter?

No, there is no re-entry allowed.

Can I be refused entry?

As this is a licensed event, organisers reserve the right to refuse entry to the event where deemed necessary. Please note that if you turn up and we believe you are intoxicated you will not be allowed entry. You will not be eligible for a refund if you are refused entry.

Is smoking allowed?

Smoking is allowed in the outdoor spaces of the event, not inside any covered spaces, tents, marquees etc.

Will I be in photographs?

Photography and videography will be in place throughout the event. By entering the event you consent to any photographs/videos of yourself being used for marketing purposes by The Students’ Union or Dazed Events in the future.

What is the refund policy?

Please check the event details carefully before purchasing a ticket as our event partners can’t offer a refund if the event is going ahead as planned. You will be able to claim a refund if the date or location of the event changes, or in the event of a cancellation.

Please note, you are not entitled to a refund if you change your mind about going or realise you can't go anymore.

If you no longer wish to attend the event, there is an option to transfer/sell your ticket to another student. Follow the steps here: https://help.fixr.co/en/articles/2032380-how-do-i-transfer-a-ticket

Please note that ticket transfer deadline is the 19th May at 00:00

Remember, you can only transfer tickets to other UWE Bristol students. If you are purchasing a ticket from someone else, please ensure they are using the Transfer Feature to avoid scams or being charged too much.
