Review of Soul Town Festival 2024
Considering this is not the 1st time putting this Soul festival together , it was appalling the time it took between artists sorting out the technical elements. It took 40mins to set up Maxi Priest and the sound quality was still extremely poor. The last set which of all the acts was the most polished sang 4 tracks. Definitely not value for money. Also as a health professional I was really saddened to see individuals working round trying to increase the sale of alcohol that was already being drunk in copious amounts. Where is the organizers responsibility to safe drinking?! This was my first time attending and I'm unlikely to attend again or encourage family or friends to attend.

Review of Soul Town Festival 2024
The only issue was that the show did not follow the timetable. The last three acts were over half hour late. The headliners - Earth, Wind & Fire only performed for 20 minutes - very disappointing

Review of Soul Town Festival 2024
The only negative about the day was the music! The acts were great but the timings were all really behind so when the last act (earth wind & fire) came on stage over an hour late, they were on for 25 mins and played only one of their big hits! Such a shame and not great value for money when you have paid for the vip tickets!

Review of Soul Town Festival 2024
The event was well organised, plenty of toilets, food and drink (until 8pm). However my issue was with the sound engineering team. Obviously I understand each act requires it's own instruments, mics etc. However after Damage performed it was a complete shambles each act after that was 30 to 40 minutes late in starting (They all finished on time) so completely short changed on the performances. I can completely understand if this was the Saturday but you would have expected there would have been a trial run then Saturday's performances in readiness for the headline acts on Sunday.
So I would recommend a change in the subcontractors who have the responsibility as the chosen sound engineers. Maybe the decision markers have considered the costs associated with hiring a more experienced team. This however is a false economy as the delays in acts starting on time, clearly frustrated the artist, the crowd and also damaged the Soul Town brand which I'm sure wasn't the goal when that decision was made.
Just some constructive thoughts to consider.

Review of Soul Town Festival 2024
We really enjoyed the festival, it was our first visit. The prices inside were an absolute rip off which we found really annoying. If we came again, we would stay outside with our own drink and picnic and just listen as you don't need to see the bands. The music was OK. Sometime you could hear both the sounds from the Boogie Bus and the artists so they should have been further apart. The toilets were disgusting and didn't flush. The worst thing for me was the smell of wacky backy. It was over powering. If you can't get in with alcohol, then you shouldn't be able to get in with drugs either so the searching at the gate should be more thorough. The smell was so bad that on the Saturday, I ended up with a really bad migraine and we had to leave early and go back to the hotel where I was promptly sick. On the Sunday the smell was just as bad so we moved away from the crowds. Shame Maxi Priest took so long to come on. What was that all about? We had a train to catch so ended up missing Earth, Wind and Fire who were head lining. Was there a reason that he held things up by 30 mins? Maybe he thought he was working the crowd into a frenzy keeping them waiting, but I don't think he's a big enough star for that really.

Review of Soul Town Festival 2024
Having been to Boogie Town full weekend last year, decided to go to Soul Town Festival this year so we could compare both. Entrance and security checks at STF were slick and thorough which was good. Similar line up however sound quality at STF was not as good and the in-between set DJ/entertainment not at all as good / non-existent and it all fell a bit flat while waiting for next band / singer. In our view this meant atmosphere was not as good as BT. Though we did not purchase food, there seemed to be a good choice of food and drink within STF venue and £6 for a 440ml can of cold 4.6% lager was going rate and I thought fair.. Definite minus was not being allowed chairs or picnic blankets and, given the space available on both days I do not see why this was the case, especially bearing in mind demographic of people attending these events - not all of us can get up off and down onto the ground as quickly as others and standing for 7+ hours is not fun. This factor alone would stop us attending again and I know it irked other festival goers too. There were a few straw bales available but very lucky if you could get one of these. Plenty of bars but only one main toilet area at STF which did get very busy at times, that said the loos were generally as clean as could be and well supplied with loo roll and hand gel. STF very well served by public transport which is a definite plus and lots of eateries nearby if wishing to eat prior to the event which we did as no food allowed into venue - also a bit harsh I think. We still had an enjoyable weekend at STF but for us it is a case of been there, done it and would not go again due to above mentioned "rules". This review is genuinely supposed to be helpful to those thinking of attending and organisers and I hope it does not sound too " whingy".

Review of Soul Town Festival 2024
The acts weren't as good as the last couple of years. Food and drinks very overpriced. Fab day out but need some better acts main stage, Earth Wind Fire were very disappointing as a finale.
