From his first tour supporting the Pogues to 'Top of the Pops' to making it big in China to Q magazines top 5 moments that changed music when The Crimea released ‘secrets of the witching hour’ as the first ever free album it was inevitable that MacManus would return to the stage at some point.
Getting prepared for what was going to be the next chapter of his life Davey decided to put everything into the much anticipated comeback that kept his fans waiting.
Skateboarding 14km per day along the Grand Canal, Busking for hours on end every day and night at Dun Laoghaire, sometimes not making a penny but slowly growing in confidence and bringing back to life the Davey we all missed for the past decade.
2024 sees the return of MacManus with the release of his book ‘The Bluster Boy’ accompanied by new material including a free album.
The Bluster Boy are stories by Davey about his career over the past 30 years to the times he spent with his sister Annie Mac, supporting The Stereophonics in front of 55,000 people at Morfa Stadium to touring Stadiums with Snow Patrol and Billy Corgan. To then giving it all up to pursue a career as a nurse in Africa.
Bluster boy was released on the 28th of August 2024 at a very special intimate event at Bridge Street Books Wicklow (voted the best independent bookstore in Ireland)
On the back of the book Davey is back to promote his brand new album ‘even the trees know karate’
