Review of Barrioke!
Barrioke itself was the most fun night I’ve had in ages and what a genuinely lovely man. Door staff lovely , bar staff …. Mostly nice but two which let the experience down and was very rude due to their mistakes . But it is what it is the general night was so much fun and we had a lovely time despite that issue :)

Review of Barrioke!
First visit to Player's lounge, nice modern venue. Efficient bar staff, wasn't long waits to get served despite it being very busy, prices surprisingly reasonable for spirits considering a friend's wine cost £10!
Music from the DJ's was absolutely brilliant, but sadly I think the Barrioke was a little poor.
From the queueing up at the start to put your name down, I think that could've been done as part of the booking system, or had slips on the tables to hand in, as opposed to having to stand in a long queue.
Very disappointing to realise there were many songs he wouldn't do, I got told he would feel intimidated by rapping for example when I asked for a Dizzee Rascal song. I appreciate hes not a professional singer, but neither is anyone doing Karaoke, it's all for the laugh and enjoyment so to limit people's choices by what he was comfortable with I found disappointing, followed by the fact once the list was in, it was then chosen and selected what ones he did and in what order. Yes there was an announcement made by staff that not everyone would get to sing who'd put their name down, but implied if they ran out of time, not that in fact it had been picked n chosen to suit rather than in order that people 'queued' and waited.
I also found the evening host very assertive, I had merely gone to ask about the ordering of the songs, when he put his arm out and ushered me back as if I was going to stand behind his desk, telling me there was wires on the floor, which I'm fully aware of, I managed a pub with my partner and also had events on, wires etc. He announced that anyone who put their name out twice would be thrown out??? Okay, I would say its only fair to sing once, but the threat to be thrown out seems harsh given that its also unfair for the entertainment to pick and choose the songs!
Can't say I like the fact that people are expected leave their drinks in the foyer when going downstairs to smoke, with the height of spiking these days, the drinks can't even be seen from where you are made to go to smoke, its pretty much on the street. All drinks were in plastics anyway so not as if risk of glasses being smashed outside.
So a mixed review, but for me, the ultimate best part of the night was the resident dj, he played brilliant music and created the best atmosphere of the night. I would recommend just for that, and the fast bar service.
