About

Selsey Cricket Club was founded in 1834 and is one of England's oldest cricket clubs. Fixtures Enquiries selseycc@gmail.com This year on 8th June, we will be playing Lashings All Stars for the Sir Patrick Moore Cup, and will mark Selsey Cricket Clubs 180th Anniversary year, and in memory of Sir Patrick Moore, our Former Secretary, President and Life Vice Preident. Al money raised will go to the new Pavilion Fund. Courtney Walsh, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Devon Malcolm and Mohammad Yousaf are due to be part of an all-star squad who will be taking on Selsey in this 30-over match. There will be tables available in the VIP Marquee, these wil be sold in blocks of 10 seat tables at �500 per table or �600 if one of the All Stars joins you in the table. The price includes a three course meal. If you have any question regarding the VIP dining area, or anything regarding the day, please email us, and we will get answers back to you as soon as possible. The Match free and is open to all to attend, with the Club bar open, and a Hog Roast. Please like our Facebook page for more information www.facebook.com/selseyccCricket had been played in Selsey before the clubs foundation and a famous incident occurred in 1647, when a fielder called Henry Brand died, after being struck on the head by a batsman trying to hit the ball a second time to avoid being out. One of the clubs most famous members was the late B.B.C. astronomer Sir Patrick Moore, C.B.E. Sir Patrick was a former Club Secretary, and an active playing member, and was an Honorary Life Vice President. A former President of Selsey Cricket Club was Hubert Doggart, O.B.E., MA. He was the son of the sportsman Graham Doggart who rose to chair the Football Association. Doggart represented England in two Test matches in 1950. He was President of the MCC (1981�1982), the Cricket Council (1981�1982) and the Cricket Society (1983�1998), and he chaired the Friends of Arundel Castle Cricket Club (1993�2003). In the 1970s he played occasionally for Selsey CC.
