Review of Betley Bonfire 2023
We attended last night with great expectations due to this being run annually for many years. In the main it was really good and we were impressed with the choice of food and rides although the prices were extortionate. Guidelines should be in place for fair prices. There were loads of volunteers who had clearly given up their own time to help produce this event for others to enjoy which was greatly appreciated... however.... We would not go again due to the fact it was a 3 hour wait for the display as we got there at 5 to see the fire lit and then it was coming up to 8.30pm before the fireworks, we had a heavily pregnant lady and young child with us, the wait was way too long and we finally gave up and left before the fireworks. Heard lots of young children tired and frustrated waiting. Really spoiled what would have been a great night. We were told by 2 volunteers it was because people were still turning up. Really not a great reason when thousand or so who turned up on time were now being made to wait. The mud was really bad but fully expected it and is unavoidable.
